Some of the changes included:
-The game runs now from 465 AD, under the reign of Western Emperor Anthemius (a puppet of Ricimer), until 630 AD, just before the beginning of the Islamic conquests.
-19 playable factions, including Roman rebel factions of Gaul and Dalmatia, Ostrogoths, Desert tribes, Celts and Romano-British.
-New map with new regions (now there are near one hundred provinces...) and capitals.
-Corrected and historical descriptions of some Roman units, with new recruitment options.
-Some units have been suppressed due to they were not longer used during the late Roman Empire.
-Costs, balances and abilities of some units have been changed and updated to the difficult times of late Roman Empire. Now it´s cheaper for the Roman factions to recruit barbarian troops than their own native soldiers.
-You'll be able to see some Bagaudae among the rebel peasants (brigands).
-New loading screens.
-All Roman barbarian units now have the ability of 'war cry'.
-Roman legionary cohorts now have the ability of make a shield wall.
-Now even small cities have the ability to construct walls, instead of wooden palisades. It was commom in the late Roman Empire for all cities to have a line of stone walls protecting them from invaders.
INSTALLING INSTRUCTIONS
-UnRar the downloaded archive.
-Copy the folder 'The_Last_Emperor' with all its content into the BI folder inside the Rome-TW main installation in your PC.
-Just play the game by clicking the link included inside the 'The_Last_Emperor' folder.
-Steam Users: make a security copy of the original BI folder. Then delete all its files and replace them with the files inside The_Last_Emperor folder. IMPORTANT: antialiasing must be OFF in 'Preferences' (AA_QUALITY:AA_OFF).
ENGLISH TRANSLATION: To change the game texts from Spanish to English, simply overwrite the content of the ENGLISH folder into 'Data/Text' inside the mod's folder.

Rather than tamper with the gameplay of Rome: Total War, the Barbarian Invasion expansion transports the action a few centuries ahead, as the once-mighty Roman Empire is threatened by barbarians. The expansion will be old hat for fans of the original, but it's still fun to play as King Arthur (Artorius Castus) leading the Romano-British or Attila the Hun battling Flavius Aetius. The graphics are excellent, the interface is impeccable, and the demo offers hours of fun for historical strategists.

In the tutorial, you lead a Roman legion against a Frankish assault in 363 AD. The Battle of Chalons in 451 AD features the Huns bombarding the Romans and Goths, while the Romano-British and the Alemanni fight the Saxons at the Battle of Baldon Hill in 516 AD.

Though large, the demo is easy to set up. The game runs on a standalone set of files, requiring no installation or Registry changes. Once you're done, you can simply delete the whole directory. The demo doesn't give any taste of the campaign-style gameplay, but the adequate tutorial and two historical battles at three difficulty levels provide an excellent introduction to the epic real-time battles of the Rome: Total War franchise.
